MY LC STORY

After becoming a mother, I fell in love with the bonding and attachment that is nurtured through not only breastfeeding/chestfeeding, but all aspects of infant care. When I returned to my position as an ICU Clinical Nurse Educator where we cared for many critically ill patients including gestational parents, my lactation experience revealed a major gap in care for this population: we were not adequately supporting lactation needs in ICU.

During the pandemic, while on my second maternity leave, I underwent training to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

My cross-training fills a unique gap in our current health care system, where we do not have many lactation consultants who are familiar with the intensive care setting to initiate lactation in this vulnerable population.

Currently, I work as a Lactation Specialist in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where I have the privilege of working with incredibly special families, including severely ill post-partum parents.

I would be honoured to support you and your family through your post-partum and lactation journey.
